For the next project we creating our own papercrafts, and in preparation and inspiration we were tasked to research few papercraft artists. The paper craft artist I chose to write about is Hoang Tien Quyet.

Hoang Tien Quyet is a Vietnamese origami sculpture artist. Out of all the artists listed, I felt the most drawn to Quyet`s work because I am familiar with origami and its significance in culture. As someone who grew up making origami, I was quite surprised that somebody would make their entire practice making something so trivial, but as I started looking at Quyet`s work I realized that its not so trivial. Quyets`s choices are all significant. The fact that Quyet decided on origami not clay or any other medium is quite significant in itself, as origami represents time and culture. Brining back a sense of nostalgia and reintroducing the type of technique that most have not heard of. I choose to write about Quyet because I was inspired by the forms and fragility found in his works, I hope take those ideas and maybe incorporate it into my next project.
